Hello world,
Firstly a quick update on me. I have been absent for a while I know mainly due to me having a real job! I know shocking. I am currently a mobile asset tester at Marks and Spencers (I am basically making sure their mobile websites work properly). That has kept me occupied for the last few weeks so my 3D work was put on the back burner for a while but I've just started up again and the long awaited penthouse (see below) will be finished in the next week or two hopefully.
Anyway boring bit over.....look at what I found on CGArchitect:
Amazing!
I hope youre all taking note as one day this will be me!..........one day.

Finished Kitchen
So I finally finished the kitchen that i've been doing on and off for the last few months.
I think ive got the lighting right and the textures are great considering I made them from scratch. I probably could have added more design pieces in but to be honest I wanted to finish it and see how it turned out.
The outside has been photoshopped in and I had to do a bit of research how to do it so its not perfect but I think it does the job.
The kitchen items are models from evermotion.

Interior kitchen design
This is a kitchen design that was to test my interior modelling. I'm still trying to work out the best way to add in the external shots on the windows but this gives a good idea of what I want the final render to look like. I might work on a few kitchen items to add. Everything in this room has been modelled by me so far.

Artefact 3 - Textures
This is my 3rd artefact (a week later than planned). This one is based around the different ways to texture models.
I have tried 4 different ways to texture. They vary in technical skill ranging from using the standard 3DS max materials then using normal bit maps then using UV maps to use textures created in photoshop. Handdrawn photoshop images can be used or real photographs.

Google Sketch Up
So I have been doing some research on helicopters and concept ideas aswell. I have been struggling to put my ideas down on paper as I must admit that my drawing skills are poor at best...SO I have thought about the skills I have and the programs that are quick and easy to use and have come up with the idea of using Google Sketchup and a means of quickly getting down some ideas. Obviously I am still sketching and writing down ideas on paper but I am trying to get the better ideas into Sketchup.
I have done a model of a chinook helicopter to give an example and to get a bit of practice in before a start on my own models. It took me about an hour and it was the first time ive used sketchup in a while so id hope that I could get it more detail/cut the production time down the more I use it. I then exported the model into 3DS Max to render it.

Im hoping this will give me, Pete and everyone else that looks at my work a better chance of understanding whats going on in my crazy little mind.
I know they are basic but the idea is to aid in chosing the right design rather than creating a model that I will be using in the final piece.
